The Razer-NUS Joint AI Research Laboratory advances foundational artificial intelligence research for gaming intelligence and real-time interactive digital environments.
Overview
Razer and the National University of Singapore School of Computing (NUS Computing) have established a joint research lab that is hosted in NUS to conduct foundational artificial intelligence research and define the future of gaming intelligence. The lab brings together NUS Computing's research expertise in AI with Razer's gaming ecosystem, engineering environment, and industry experience to advance intelligent systems for interactive digital environments.
The Joint AI Research Lab introduces Gaming Artificial Narrow Intelligence (GANI), a research domain focused on AI models purpose-built for games and other real-time interactive environments. GANI aims to support systems that can adapt to changing gameplay contexts, respond to player skill and playstyle, and enhance user experience without disrupting play.
The Joint Laboratory will conduct research in three broad areas having strategic relevance to next-generation gaming intelligence:
- Core model innovation;
- Real-time content systems;
- Advanced personalization capabilities.
Objectives
Razer-NUS Joint AI Research Lab aims to:
- Develop new scientific foundations for AI systems that are purpose-built for gaming and interactive digital environments;
- Create technologies that enable real-time, context-aware decisions, adaptive gameplay, and richer human-AI collaboration;
- Enhance R&D capability in AI, game intelligence, and intelligent content systems at Razer and NUS;
- Train research talent in artificial intelligence, machine learning, agentic AI, contextual reasoning, real-time systems, personalization, and human-AI interaction; and
- Translate successful research outcomes into real-world gameplay environments, products, and open research contributions where appropriate.
